About Us
Since 1955, the Nashville chapter of the Women's National Book Association has brought together professional women and men who share a commitment to books and reading.
We offer stimulating programs about emerging genres and publishing industry trends, feature inside-the-book discussions with new and favorite authors, and enjoy the company of other literate and literary-minded booklovers. We also do our part to promote reading, literacy and enthusiasm for books in the Nashville community.
WNBA welcomes all those who share our love for books and interest in the book world. Many of our members work in the book industry as publishers, printers, authors, agents, editors, librarians, booksellers or production and marketing specialists. Others simply love books.
We invite you to visit one of our meetings to see for yourself all that WNBA has to offer and encourage you to consider membership in our dynamic organization.

Activities of WNBA Nashville
A monthly meeting is held from January through May and from September through December at Davis-Kidd bookstore in the Green Hills Mall. Each month's program brings interesting speakers - published authors and book industry professionals - to present informative programs. Anyone is welcome to attend these meetings. Members often come early to eat, network, and socialize with like-minded book people. Meetings are every first Thursday evening at 6pm. Check out our Activities & Programs page for more details and directions!
WNBA and the Nashville Chapter sponsor and support many literary and literacy events, programs, and activities. You may read more about our activities throughout this site and the National WNBA site.
What is the Women's National Book Association?
Mission
The Women's National Book Association is a national organization of women and men who work with and value books. WNBA exists to promote reading and to support the role of women in the community of the book.
Purpose
The purposes of WNBA are educational and charitable. WNBA came into being to inform book women about matters relevant to themselves and the book world so that these women could inform and help one another.
That's what we still do, through actions such as these:
- bring together women and men who are active in the world of books
- educate and inform the public about the need to create, produce, distribute, and use books
- respond to requests for information about books and the allied arts and generate and support projects that help to disseminate such information
- serve as a catalyst for all in the book community who wish to work together, and
- promote recognition of women's achievements in the book industry.
